Hi folks - I am a long time photographer but brand spanking new to the arts fair scene.  I'm hoping to get my feet wet this summer and am looking to apply to a few shows. I'm hoping to learn from the experience within this community to help me do so!  I'm already learning a ton just from browsing other discussions on the site.

In looking at the information on ZAPP, one of the shows I'm interested in says "You can submit up to 12 applications for this show.

I'm curious as to whether these up-to-12 submissions are only intended for multi-medium artists, for example someone who wanted to apply in both Sculpture and Painting?  Or is it acceptable for someone to submit multiple applications within the same category?  For example, I could provide a photography submission themed around my full-color mountain landscapes, and a second submission themed around my moody black & white shots in case the jury likes that better?

If I could in fact submit multiple photography applications, would the show set it up such that only one of the two could be approved?  And if only one was approved would that mean that my display at the show should only include work that aligns to the application that was submitted?

Thanks,

Mandy

  • A ridiculous number isn't it.... I'd say three would be pushing reasonable. It's for artists who work in different mediums or in the same medium with totally different styles. Basically it's for artists who maintain multiple profiles to submit different applications to the same show through. Keep in mind that for shows that are on the ball, if you apply with more than one application in the same medium, you won't be allowed to display the work from the application that was rejected.
