Michael Weber of Port St. Lucie, FL, died after a brief illness on October 25. After months of not feeling well, shortness of breath and fatigue, without any specific diagnosis, he was admitted to the hospital earlier in the week, to get answers. He was diagnosed with systemic cancer, put on machines to make him comfortable and waited for some improvement. On the 25th, his wife (of many many years and business partner and manager) Carol, knew it was time to let him go. He was still active in art fairs, having most recently participated in the Carmel Art Festival in Carmel, Indiana.
Mike was well loved in art fair circles with friends everywhere. He created luminescent water color paintings and, I'd guess, won the top award at just about every show, including the $15,000 Best of Show at Gasparilla a few years ago. He will be missed not only by his friends in the art fair business (Gert and Sheila Olsen, John and Camille Staropoli, Bruce Peeso, Allan Teger and Barbara Krupp, Jude and Michelle Pokorny, Rick Preston, {you can probably add your name here}) but by art collectors especially in Florida and the Midwest.
Michael met Carol when they both were artists working for Hallmark cards.
My sincere condolences to Carol Weber who was always at his side, supporting, caring and working with him.
