I am the show director for the Manayunk Arts Festival. The ads are part of a multi-pronged campaign to increase the quality and overall "feel" of our event. The Manayunk Arts Festival is the vibrant centerpiece in a year-long event schedule dedicated to highlighting our shopping and dining district. Our district is also heavily involved in the arts on many levels and the Arts Festival, along with our partnership with the Philadelphia Mural Arts Project, is dedicated to bring public art to residents and regional visitors to Manayunk.

Hi Martha - thanks for the reply - is this new, or did I miss it other years?
This is new for 2011. I'm glad artists have noticed it.

Hi Martha,
Thanks for being active on the site. Always great to have show directors responding directly to questions!
I checked Zapplication, and although your event DOES display in the listings, the deadline is listed as March 7 (just so you know).
Also, it states in the content that judges will review each category separately. But it does not state specifically what the categories are. Is this open to photography?
I never got a chance to reply. Our deadline was March 7th, but like any show looking to bring in exciting artists, we do keep an eye out for anyone special that catches our eye even past the deadline.
The categories are Fiber, Glass & Ceramics, Mixed Media, Photography, Painting/Drawing, and Wood & Sculpture. So yes, Photographers are invited to apply.
If you have any more questions, please feel free to reach out to me at mvidauri@manayunk.org.
OK, second week in a row with the same add. Do any other major arts festivals advertise 'call for artists' in their local paper? I don't recall this being done in prior years. The ad is more than twice the size as the ad for this weekend's Sugarloaf Crafts Festival which is taking place in nearby Oaks, PA.
