Art shows in Wisconsin for Jan or Feb are non existent. We would like find a nice, mid-sized show that we can travel to, during this time. We have 2-D contemporary framed collages. We seem to do better in urban settings such as Milwaukee, Minneapolis & St. Louis. Although we have not done well in Chicago (if you can figure that one out, I would love to hear from you). We don't want to do an over-whelming show (ie: Coconut Grove).

We tried Florida a couple of years ago, but I think we picked the wrong events and did not do very well. Indoors or outdoors is fine. Driving is not a problem. Got any ideas?

  • The winter months here in the northeast brings the Flower and Garden shows. They start in mid February and go through April, or May in Maine.

Philadelphia, Boston, Hartford, Providence, Harrisburg, Rochester, etc. Philly alone draws over two million potential customers past your booth.
A number of artists and crafters do these shows and some are quite profitable.
  • Mount Dora applications close tomorrow and Naples National deadline is 11/3. I've not done Mount Dora but it has a good reputation. I've had good luck with Naples National. Mount Dora is on Zapp and Naples National is on JAS. There are several March shows that are still accepting applications.
  • Stay out of FLA and save yourself some $
  • If you want to go where the tourist are Arizona is the place to go. quite a few artist from the northeast head here . I live here and used to do shows in AZ. There is tubac, oro valley, palm springs CA, tucson, fountain hills, Not to discourage u but shows are soso here. not sure about howard allen shows, i would ck out other discussions about that issue.
  • For the most part, show season in January and February is in Florida. March is a transition month and The season moves to Texas and the SW in April. This is only a general rule and you might find exceptions.

The problem is that shows close six to seven months in advance so any decent shows worth traveling to Florida for closed in September.

If you're up to it, I'd contact Howard Alan and see if you can get on the waiting list for some of his winter shows. And his craft shows are usually much easier to get into.
