I noticed on Zapp that they will now allow images up to 5 mb! I was wondering whether it would be a good idea to redo my images that are currently less than 2 mb, to improve my photos.
I tried starting from scratch with a large image from my camera, and sizing it down to 1920 pixels. I set the print size to 300 dpi. But the image I get from this always seems to be lower than 2 mb anyway. Is there a way to enlarge the image file without making it larger than 1920 pixels?

Hi Susie, If you're already at 100% JPEG quality it won't get any larger and is fine. JPEG file size is based on the amount of detail in an image. If you use a solid color or solid black background, the file size will be smaller than if you use a textured background.
They just don't want you to go over 2 mg. They took the wording from the ZAPP web site.

That won't improve your images. Projection juries use 1920 pixels square with black borders masking rectangular images. Monitor juries use 750 pixels long dimension. Going from 2 megabytes to 5 megabytes won't change the images viewed by the juries. And for the most part, a maximum quality JPEG at 1920 pixels will rarely be 5 megabytes, if at all.

Thanks so much Larry-- that was a quick reply! That's exactly what I wanted to know.
