Right now I'm signed up to do the Prarie Village show in Kansas City, followed by the Smoky Hill River art show the following weekend in Salina. This will be my first time exhibiting in Kansas. I went online to look for lodging in Kansas City the weekend of the show (June 3-6) and it seems all the Overland Park and Merriam hotels are almost completely booked or have prices way jacked up because of a "special event". I did research and found out that there is a NASCAR race that weekend (probably not my clientelle:). I make jewelry in the upper-mid level price range.
I'm concerned that people that would want to come to visit the show from out of town won't be able to find a place to stay. Or are most patrons local? I've heard good thinks about the show from my customers who live in the area.
Also, I'm looking for advice about things to do between shows. I love hiking and river running.
My original choice for June was the Contemporary Craft Market in Santa Monica followed by La Jolla..I hope I made the right choice to try something different. I havn't turned down La Jolla yet.

Hi Wendy,
I realize this is an old post, but thanks! I am scheduled for Prairie Village, and had not arranged hotel yet. Had no idea that NASCAR was in town. Sheesh, those people are crazy. Anyway, got a room, but nobody is giving anything on price. Mebmbership numbers--nope--nothing helps.
See you in Kansas!

Thank You, Michelle!
I'll look forward to meeting you in Salina!
