Hi everybody! I joined the site a couple of days ago. I have participated in a couple of art fairs in the past, but it has been several years since I have done that. I mainly have participated in local art shows. Mostly because I don't have the freedom to travel, and even to be gone all day very often. I have a tent, but the work of setting up is beyond my stregth. However, I'm on the lookout for fairs that are indoors, or have bad weather dates, so that I don't need to use a tent. I am a self taught artist in acrylics. I used to do paper mache sculpture. I love doing non-representational abstract, but am expanding my horizons. We have something coming up call yart sales. These are small art fairs held in private yards, and they often have a ceiling on prices, to make original art accessible to more people. I am hoping to participate in one coming up. I am still learning about presentation of my work in these venues. Trying to keep my load light! I welcome any suggestions! I'm looking forward to making new friends in this community.

Hi Becca,
Welcome to AFI. You'll find all kinds of people here from the rankest beginners to the over the top old pros and many of them will help you learn the ropes of this business. A smart plan, to work on events that you can handle. I've never heard of this term before "yart," maybe you can become our expert. I'd love to hear more about this.
I'm planning to have my own sometime before too long. I am lucky to live on a street that gets a lot of traffic, and on the corner of a quiet side street where people can park. So, if I don't get into the one in two weeks, maybe I'll organize one this spring.
Hi Becca and welcome aboard :) I like indoor shows too - makes life alot easier when you don't have to put up a tent and the weather becomes a non-issue! The Yart Sales sound interesting - let us know how your first one goes :)
