Newbie here

Hi everyone, thanks for letting me be a part of your group! I'm getting ready to apply to Inman Park Arts Festival in Atlanta and am not sure what category I should apply to. My pieces often include vintage items, boxes and elements from nature and are sealed in a thick epoxy resin. But, there is usually a digital element/collage. Pieces are 1 of a kind or in limited editions of 5. Should I enter as mixed media or digital art? Or is there a mixed media digital collage category at some shows??

Looking forward to participating in festivals and getting to know the group!

Thanks!

Cheryl Beverly

  • I'd go with mixed media. Once you start sticking eggshells and other 3d objects in, calling it digital is stretching things a bit. Assemblage is probably a better word, but that's never one of the categories. Collage is rarely a category either. Can't go wrong with mixed media.

  • Cheryl, welcome to AFI. You may get better answers if instead of putting your images up as attachments you put the image into your post. Here is a link that will tell you how to do that: http://www.artfairinsiders.com/page/start-discussion-or-post

    • Thanks Connie, will do.

  • Hi Cheryl and welcome aboard :)   I will leave advice to someone Stateside who will give you more accurate info than I'm likely to give from Downunder!
