Jury Fees

Just noticed that the Naperville Riverwalk show (IL) has a $65.00 jury fee.

I was appaled at the $50.00 fee that was being charged by the State street (Ann Arbor) show.

Is this just greed or are they really just hoping to pare down the application pool?

If that's thecase they have sefinetly pared it down by one!

With booth fees going up do we now have to expect that jury fees will go to extremes also?

  • Mmm, I applied on time and paid 65.00  I thought it was way too expensive but I live close so I wanted to do that show. It is shady...
    • You applied before the initial deadline of April 2, you mean?
      • Ok, never mind,I did it after midnight, so I basically did it past the deadline. I should pay attention and I could save 30.00 if I was 15 minutes earlier. I paid the 65.00, my fault. Overpriced, anyway.
        • If you have questions about Naperville, go on their website, click on the artists and if you know someone who did it last year, ask them this simple question:  "How grandfathered is this show?"  'Nuf said.
          • I checked; though there are some names that are familiar due to having run across them before, there is no one I know.

Maybe someone else will have better luck?

      • Let me double check the exact date, but yes, I remember I did it before April 2
  • I just applied to Shaw and the fee was only $25 and I thought- Now that is a reasonable booth fee!  I have decided against applying to several shows this year because the jury fee was $40 or over.  There is a point when it just doesn't  make sense to spend that much just for a very slim chance of getting in.

  • Toni,

You caught a typo somewhere.  It's $35.  At least that's what they charged me  :)

    • It's not a typo. Last year they also had that staggering fee for late applications. It's all listed on Zapp; but you do have to scroll down to find it.
  • I saw this last year. It shocked me too, until I found out it is the fee for later applications. It was $35 before April 2.

    From their prospectus:

"non-refundable payment of $35 for the jury fee, $65 if applying after the deadline of April 2 and before April 10, 2011.

Bad, but not quite THAT bad.....
