Being from Florida we tend to scoff at Category I hurricanes much less tropical storms.
However, even the Weather Channel is saying how Vermont is nearly demolished in total. Makes me worry about our members there.
Chris, if you can please check in with a birds-eye view.

Chris, it made me sick seeing all that water beating on those old covered bridges. I saw a clip on TV where the water took the covered bridge with it. I bet the clean up is a long process.

Yeah, and we're getting more rain too. We've gotten another 6 inches since the storm. There's a little drainage creek nearby that's no more than 18 inches wide. It was so swollen it took out 150 feet of road.
The bridge you saw on the news was over 140 years old. And it was the major route in and out of town.
The bridge in Quechee was eventually destroyed by the water. Next to it was the Simon Pearce glass works, and his studio was completely flooded.
It is so upsetting. I just hate to see things ruined like that. It does seem like the natural disasters are happening more and more lately.

Yeah, we got hit pretty hard. Most of the rain fell in the upper mountains and had no place to go other than downhill. The glacial creekbeds that usually carry the snowmelt couldn't handle th erain so we had a bit of flooding. Here's some videos of my area.
This is a tree hitting the West Arlington Covered Bridge. At the beginning of the video, you can see a house. That's where Norman Rockwell lived.

Next is Quechee, Vt and the lazy river doing major damage to the bridge.

And last is the Saxon's River. You usually don't even see it from the road at all.
