Intuit gopayment CC service... Happy with it?

Wanted to get advice from those who have gopayment accounts...

Do you like the service?

Do they charge you a PCI fee? (THEY told me they do not - just curious if true)

Do they charge a monthly gateway fee for wirless transactions?

Any other hidden fees?

They don't seem to have apps for many of the newest phones... most are old models... and some are not even sold anymore.

I want to get the bluetooth reader/ printer combo unit, but I am afraid that they won't keep up with supporting it. I usually upgrade to a new phone every two years or so and I would like to get a nice up-to-date phone rather than get some, soon to be discontinued, antique model just so it is on the compatibility list for the service.

1NB has a similar setup where you get a bluetooth reader/printer that works with a long list of current compatible smart phones. They seem to be keeping on top of the new technology.

The downside is:

The reader/printer that is compatible with a large list of phones is twice the $ of gopayment's.

They charge a PCI fee... $129.

They charge a gateway fee every month... $15.

That adds up to $200 more initial investment and about $300 more a year to operate.

Just wanted to know what others thought who have the gopayment service, and also any comments from those with 1NB services.

Since we offer a $0 fee plan, if you don't use it, you won't get charged. No need to suspend your account.

  The $0 fee plan also bumps the % rate you skim off of the top by a full percentage point though, right. Or, if I am correct, you can keep the lower % rate if you pay the $12 monthly fee.
  
  One thing I would like to know, though, is if the list of phones supported by the free swiper is the same as the ones supported by the bluetooth swiper/printer.... including the newest phones.

    Yes. You are correct. You can pay the $12.95 fee with lower discount rates or the $0 plan with higher discount rates.
    
    As a general rule of thumb we recommend the $0 plan if we plan to charge $1000 or less a month and $12.95 if you think monthly volume will exceed $1000.

      Michelle - I have a question. I went onto the website to look at the application for the no monthly fee service. When I look at "pricing information" and the "Monthly minimum" section, it says that if I do not incur $20 in fees per month, I will be charged the balance of that. Is that correct? Thanks

      I have a Samsung Captivate 2.1 android phone. I have contacted Intuit a couple of times trying to find out if the phone would be supported (I don't want to use the web based higher rate option) sp far they say they don't have it on their list. I know they support other android phones and I didn't think it would matter which phone since the operating system is the same.

        Esther, my list from Intuit has the samsung captivate being compatible as of Jan. 20th. But, I noticed that yours is a 2.1 and this one on their list is a 1.1. So I guess that's the difference.

        I don't think that they made the Captivate with 1.1... maybe it is a typo. Where is the list that you mentioned? I just checked the web site and could not find an updated list.

        It looks like this phone will be supported in a week or so. Just so you know, to ensure that every customer has a good user experience, we like to test every phone. Because Android is just the operating system, we have to actually check the handset as well.

        I really want to get the new Motorola Droid X in April and then sign up for the Intuit gopayment service. But, if the X doesn't have an app available and isn't supported, I don't know that the Intuit service will be worth it for me.... the service switch would be all about the convenience of using the bluetooth swiper/printer.

        One quick way might be to just try downloading the android app they have (I'm pretty sure it is free) and see if the program starts up and works, or if you just get an error screen.
        
        I asked them earlier about the list only including "droid" and not including the new droid incredible or droid X. They said that they just put droid, meaning all droid phones rather than listing each model. Don't know if that is true or not.
