After following Art Fair Insiders for 2 years I thought it best to get on the wagon. I am a St. Louis based figurative painter with an extensive photo background -- commercial work (product) for the past 30 years. As my photo biz has gone thru changes I have been able to get back to painting in earnest. I started as a painter and hope to go out as one. As work has accumulated my wife and I looked to art fairs as an alternative to gallery representation. As most know the gallery road is a difficult one. With art fairs we have been able to have a bit of control over how we present, how we sell, and how we continue on. I have seen Art Fair Insiders as a valuable venue for info that will keep us on the path. Many thanks to those that share ideas and thoughts.

So glad to have you join us, Lon. We look forward to your questions and your answers as we all help one another along in this tricky business. We have a bunch of people from the St. Louis area active on the site, so it will be a great place for you to meet virtually before you meet in reality.
Got any shows upcoming?
Hey Connie, Headed to TX in April for 4 shows. Deep Ellum, Woodland Waterways, Souhlake, and Cottonwood. We'll see if we can make a go of these. :-)
Sounds like a good run. Will you spend the whole month in Texas?
"Texas, the new Florida."
I'm just heading into my 3rd year so many things are still new. We did Bayou City last March - first trip to TX. That was a long trip... but down and back in one weekend. Having 4 shows in TX in 5 weeks presents all sorts of new problems. The plan right now is to go down and stay for 2 weekends, come back to St. Louis for the 3rd weekend (I have a plein air event then) and then back down for another 10 day stint. I marvel at the folks that travel from show to show all over the country. Do you travel much? I spoke to an artist that said he sets up a studio in a motel room for the week between shows. I'm looking to something like that to keep the work flowing. Problem with that is I will be short many of the tools and goo-gahs that make up a studio...painting on location as it were. But a good problem to have.
Hi Lon! Sounds like you too have valuable experience to share. Look forward to hearing more from you.
Hi Lon and thanks for saying "hi" and coming out of the background :)
