Hi, Everyone!

Newbie Nancy here... LOVE THIS FORUM!  Hats off to each of you for sharing such a wealth of information.

I studied photography as an art student and have been a rabid amateur photographer my entire adult life.  Following years of encouragement, I FINALLY turned pro last year (web site went up last week: www.nancyrouxphoto.com).  A half-dozen local events and holiday boutiques last fall gave me a little show experience, but the big news is that I've just been accepted into my first juried show!

That means it's time to get serious about upgrading my display for outdoor use.  I've fully researched canopies (thanks, in part, to the landslide of info you've shared) - and, I'm going to go with the Trimline 10x10 (got my eye on the stabars and mesh panels, too).  Like SOOOOO many before me, I'm scouring every possible opportunity to pick up a "gently-used" one second-hand.  Anybody know of one that's up for grabs?  I'm based in southern CA but would be willing to drive (within reason...) to pick one up.  I know that's like asking for the world on a platter, but if you don't ask - you never know! :-)

Looking forward to getting to know you guys online (I feel like I know some of you already from your posts!) and - hopefully - meeting some of you in person on the show circuit.

  • Hello Nancy and welcome. Congrats on getting into your first show! Which show did you get into? I hope it is the first of many shows for you. Let us all know how things go after the show.

    • Hi Jacki!
Thanks for the warm welcome. I'll be exhibiting at the 2011 Southwest Arts Festival taking place January 28, 29 and 30 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. Super excited to get our stuff out there and have a presence. Lots to learn, but I'm AMAZED at the wealth of information just on this forum alone. I'm sure we'll face unforseen challenges during the event, but - hey - there's got to be a first time for everything, huh? I'll certainly post followup info (and photos!) after the fact. Thanks again for reaching out! :-)
  • Can't help you with a used Trimline, but you will love it. I just set mine up today for a new booth shot and I beat my record. I set it up all by myself in 18 minutes, including sidewalls and stay bars, no weights though in that 18 minutes. Definetly get the stay bars, and the back door option. I prefer to set it up by myself, I can do it faster then getting help. The easy riser kit makes is a piece of cake. I have heard that some people have trouble. I am not sure why. I am 5'8" but I don't think my height has much to do with it.
    • Wow, way to go Melanie! I've watched several online instructional videos, and setup doesn't look too difficult. Time consuming, to be sure... :-) But, there are always surprises, aren't there??? Don't know much about the back door option... I'll have to look into that tomorrow.
      • When I have had a problem, like a pole not coming off or on I just need to stop and think. They all should go together with ease. When they don't it usually means user error, such as wrong angles or a screw screwed in to far. Once you do it a few times it is really easy. I Did take the advice of other Trim owners, and I have different colored bungees for each set of bars. This makes it easier to keep together. I also love the awning options. I got the smaller one for the front and the bigger one for the back of the booth. They can go on any sides.
