I just joined Art Fair Insiders. I have been away from doing shows for over 4 years and am starting back in May with a local show. I had been making collages with inspirational sayings for almost 18 years and am transitioning into oil and acrylic painting. Thank you Connie for this opportunity!

Good question about the framing. I am not a good resource for that. My usual suggestion is to attend some art fairs and see what everyone else is doing and then do it better.
A lot of the art fairs have sizable booth fees and when you say you are going to do cards, especially intricate collaged ones I wonder if you are factoring in your time for the return on your investment. I'll bet you are.
Connie, thanks much.
Thank you for the warm welcome! My plan is to take it a little at a time. I think I saturated the local market with my collages and am going to stay local with my shows for the time being. I want to be available to my parents as they need me. So my plan for my work is to paint. It's something people haven't seen before and perhaps this will lead to print sales. I now work part time in an office--the income is steady and the office is just 4 miles from home. I am fortunate.
I am open to suggestions. For the show in May, I am making photo note cards of collage work and paintings. It's been fun to crop some of the bigger collage pieces and give them a name on the note cards. My goal is to create 50 4 x 6 small watercolors for 8 x 10 mats. I have a big triptych acrylic painting and a single big oil painting. I'm still in the planning stages of what I will fill the booth with. This show is juried and I juried in with collage and painting. It's pretty open on guidelines and I am taking the opportunity to show as many ideas as I can and see what people gravitate towards. I see other opportunities on-line to sell and am still learning about that.
Next week I am taking an on-line class on "Getting Organized" by art coach Alyson Stanfield (sp?). I read Stephen Pressfield's "War of Art" and that was really motivating. I've noticed that the more I put into the work, the more jazzed I get about moving forward! "Begin to weave and God will give the thread."--German Proverb
I am also considering using clip frames for some 16 x 20 photo/paper collages. I like the look but wonder if people will buy them or if I should look into aluminum frames or wood. What do you think?
