Hello Art Fair Insiders,
My name is Barbara Bloom, and I am a native of Northeastern Ohio. I am married to a lovely and creative husband who makes the world's best olive oil based soaps. A year ago I began my art business as a result of loss of my full time employment. Art has always been a passion of mine, although a hobby level interest. But about 6 years ago I took a silk painting class, and fell in love with the medium. That year for christmas I made everyone scarves, and they loved them.... idea born. I have learned shibori, which is Japanese tie dye, and that is where i have found my favorite thing to do. My business is a play on my last name - bloom. Everything has a floral form, including the patterns dyed into the silk. I also love to crochet wire into jewelry, and embroider with beads. I have not seen too many people doing this, so I hope it is a unique niche at the art shows.

Hello Barbara and welcome to our group. I think you will find everyone here very friendly and helpful.
Your scarves are beautiful. I love the soft colors. I think people would love to have the opportunity to purchase your work.
Losing a job sure has a way of pushing us into finding another way, doesn't it. It looks like losing your job worked out well for you.
I look forward to seeing you in our forums

Jacki,
Thanks for your kind words. It is my hope that my business will take off... right now it is breaking even, but not sustaining daily living costs. I understand it takes time to build the business, and clients. Fall looks to be busy with something each weekend... and several large juried shows. We can aim high and steady the course!!!
thanks again,
barb
