Hello
Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Suzy Jones and I live in Union, KY. I grew up drawing and took private lessons, art classes all through high school and took classes at BGSU for 2.5 years. I then married and had four children. They are pretty much grown now. So I am gradually rejoining with my art. I worked hard all last year, doing some sort of art each day.
I applied at Summerfair in Cincinnati and got in! I applied to Francisco's Farm Art Fest and they also accepted me. I was very happy to be accepted to these shows being so new to the art show circuit. Then I applied to St. James Court and was turned down. I applied to Black Swamp and was turned down. I was like......hmmm. It could be I did not yet have a booth shot. Hoping that is all it is. I did reapply to another section of St. James through The 1300 Association with is on Third Street and was accpeted. (yay!) I now have a booth shot, so I applied to two other shows, still waiting to hear from them.
I sold five pieces at Summerfair. I thought that was good for my first show and the crowds were not purchasing much. They seem to drift towards pottery and the jewelry booths. Could be the economy.
Francisco's Farm Art Fest is June 25th and 26th in Midway, KY. A smaller show in Equus Run Vineyard. I hope this will be a good one. I will let you all know.

Welcome Suzy. Sounds like you are off to a great start. It sounds like you have gotten into some good shows, too. We have many members that are very helpful here. If you have questions or need help as you embark on your freshman year in the art show business, don't be afraid to ask. Good luck with the rest of your shows.

Welcome, Suzy -- this site is full of people who are entering on their second and third careers, and many who are returning to their first love of art that had to be put on hold while other more demanding things were attended to. Me, I got a Sociology degree because I didn't think anyone could earn a living in the Arts -- and now look where it has taken me! I married a man who was an artist and worked with him at the shows for a long time and now have taken that experience into websites that promote art fairs. Who knew?
Glad to hear you did okay at Cincinnati -- keep at it and all should be well. I've heard such nice things about Francisco's Farm and look forward to hearing about your experiences there.
