Indoor show setup

I have a few indoor shows coming up that are not the standard 10x10'. One is 8x10', the others are 6x8'.

I have a Trimline canopy for my outdoor shows. Is there any way to configure it for a smaller space? I'd like to at least be able to set up my track lighting overhead, possibly hang a backdrop. 

I wonder if I could use the tent legs and connectors, but replace the horizontal bars with pvc cut to the lengths I need, and use the eye screws to hold them in place.

Any thoughts or other ideas?

    • On what I posted earlier about the poles:

      On your Timline, which is made for 10' x 10':

      The Male (Swaged) poles are 61 1/8" long.

      The Females are 58 1/4" long

      Put together they enable the 10' span.

      Buy a couple of the 1" EMT conduits (poles). Cut them to these lengths.

      So it is easy math. 

      For a 6' wide just subtract 36" from the Female pole to get 22 1/4" pole.

      For a 8' wide subtract 24" from the Female pole to get 34 1/4" pole.

      You can compy the hole drilling from your old poles.

      You may already have the lengths you need as short poles are used for Awnings, French doors, Signs post, Gable ends etc. If you look at your inventory (what Floursh would do for you) you may find you already have most of what you need.

  • I use my tent frame at indoor shows to attach/zip tie my panels to, because it is actually easier and sturdier than using corner cross bracing. On my tent, the front and back are telescoping, and there is nothing that says they have to be fully extended. There may also be a way on your frame to compress the sides, or you could turn the frame 90 degrees if that helps.

  • I recommend asking if they will have pipe and drape in place.  Although "many" may have d/p in place, we have done only one where it was provided, and at no extra charge for the artists/crafters.

    We are not scheduling any outdoor shows at  this time, though we have a canopy.  Our shows are primarily in equestrian type arenas because they are primarily shows featuring vintage items, upcycled and repurposed items, etc.  We are under cover in these venues but often the outer walls are some some degree of openness.  Usually we are protected from the elements though everyone is advised to prepare for the elements, especially those on the outside walls.

    At all these shows we use a PVC p/d set up.  We always get a 10x20 booth.  The way dh has rigged it, if we are on the end of a row, we can leave one end open, the one away from our only adjacent neighbor.  This gives us plenty of options.  The vertical pipe is cut to a 6' length.  This can be cut to whatever vertical height you want and can fit in your trailer or vehicle.  These are spaced in 5' increments.  Our horizontal pipes are cut to 5' length.  We have these along the outline of our booth at the floor and another row at the top of the vertical pipe.

    Dh is on his 2nd set of joints for our set up.  The first set fit too tightly and made it very difficult to set up and tear down.  He has gotten some off Amazon that fit well but are much easier to put on and take off.  If anyone is interested I can ask him what they are called.  I just know it was easily found at Lowe's, etc.

    We love the p/d system because it is so helpful in cutting out the clutter from adjacent booths.  Since our inventory is usually one of a kind type pieces, our layout of larger pieces is never the same twice.  But, the p/d gives a clean look to the booth no matter what we have.

    We ordered our drapes from Premier Linens online.  We got our order quickly and best of all, these drapes are machine washable and dryable.  Due to how many we use it usually takes 2 loads to get them washed but they are done in no time.  Many colors are available to suit your color scheme.  They have professional table linens as well in an array of colors & styles.

    • Do you get a fire certificate with the drapes you use?

      Many shows seem to require it in their rules, however I've never been asked to see mine.

      If needed I do carry mine at all times. All my tents have them.

      Even my extra drapes have it.

        I don't know about fire retardant and my drapes.  I will have to look.  Also, I have never been asked.
