This weekend will be my first time participating in the Indiana Art Fair being held at the Indiana State Museum in Indianapolis.
The show features 75 artists of which my husband and I are two.
I'm looking forward to the event - I've heard up and down stories about attendance and profit - but I'm excited to get the season kicked off. It will feel good to be out talking art to people even if the numbers are not many.
I'll post a review after the show - keep your fingers crossed for a great event for all those participating!
Happy Arting!

Well here goes the review - from beginning to end:
Load in - tremendously well organized. We had designated times to be there - there were carts and assistants galore with wonderful attitudes. An artist could become quickly spoiled by this type of load in (and load out) treatment.
Our booth space was on the third floor of the venue with artists located on all three floors. 75 artists - there were 12 booths on third floor and the balance located on second and first floors. First floor is main level from parking garage where most attendees are going to be entering.
I was not thrilled by our third floor hallway placement - but as it was our first year I was not expecting to have prime realestate either.
There was an opening reception on Friday evening - people were very pleasant and complimentary - but we had no sales. Others around us did - so it was not a loss for all.
Saturday traffic was fair - not overwhelming - but alright. We made some sales.
Sunday traffic was very light - weather had cooled considerably so that was surely a contributing factor.
There were sales at some booths - but I didn't get a sense that it was gang busters for anyone - Fiber and jewelry seemed to be doing best. Again - I think functional art is doing better than purely decorative.
All in all - while we did not have a great weekend sales wise - we will more than likely try this one again next year. The venue alone is lovely - hopefully we could get better placement - and as we're local - we have no additional expense travel/lodging wise.
Also - made some wonderful new show friends - and that's always a benefit.
Thanks for the report, I'm always looking for something in the winter!
