Ceramicist Steve Cunningham (69) of W. Des Moines, Iowa, died March 11 from pancreatic cancer. Steve and his wife Mikyong worked together at their Cunningham Pottery for many years and they were regular fixtures at art fairs around the country.

With my husband Norm Darwish, we participated in many shows together. I remember particularly being neighbors at the Coconut Grove Arts Festival and doing a wonderful trade of photographs for their signature pottery. They were always upbeat and friendly, with just the right kind of personality to thrive in our business, greeting old customers and newcomers with big smiles. 

This post should not be about both of them, but that is the way it was. If Steve was there, so was Miky. They were one of those hardworking, successful, art fair couples with friends everywhere they turned.
