Money is on my mind, what can I say? In thinking about all the things that would be nice to replace IF I HAD THE MONEY (but you are settling for what you have now because you have to) - what are some things you would love to replace say in your workshop, display fixtures, vehicle?

  • Michelle- fun topic...

We all want better vehicles! I pull a 5x8 enclosed trailer and my v6 van is having trouble with the weight. I would love to expand my display even more, but it cannot take it. A SUV with a V8 or a crew cab pickup would work just fine.
A workshop all to itself with a great filtering system and air conditioner. That would be lovely!
A pretty office for entertaining visiting clients in. I have ideas for the toy room in several years time.
Upgraded sandblasting equipment. Just spent good $ on this, but there is always bigger better things to get.
A credit card machine that was hooked up to dial without a line.
A laptop to bring to shows.

I recently spent a lot of money due to broken equipment, van and re-stocking. Need to pay that off before I could even contemplate any of these other things. Though I will say, I am quite happy that I went ahead and spent the money on some of my equipment. It was a good upgrade choice and is speeding up my production time. Sometimes we have to bite the bullet and use that credit card.
  • If I had the money I would switch glass suppliers. You're a painter. You're running out of say blues-all blues.
You call and your supplier says "we won't be making blues for 3 months". Think about that one!
  • I'd love a 15+ pixel digital camera for better photos.
This answer is really to all the posters. I once removed the front passenger seat from my Volkswagen bug and took my wheel, clay supply, tools, batts, and well over a hundred pieces of pottery to to a show. I was young then. I ended with a Ford 150 extended van which held a great deal. I could probably now travel to a show with a 1x2x3 box , an umbrella, and a chair, and maybe a bottle of kahlua. In reality, I don't show anymore but occasionally do sell a piece of my work or donate to a church related group. I work for fun now.
  • I'd have to say some sort of truck, van or trailer. I transport all my stuff in my CRV and it's just not big enough. I've been just doing local shows where I can transport all my set up stuff and about 1/2 of my birdhouses on set up day. The other 1/2 of the houses are brought the next day. I'd like to start doing shows a little farther from home, but the transportation thing is keeping me from doing that. I just can't afford the expense right now---but hey, it's a goal to shoot for.
  • 1. More supplies to do more work
    2. New higher pixel camera (most of my work is traditional, but I seem to sell my larger digital images better)
    3. Photoshop CS3 or 4. (still on CS)
    4. Prime Rib dinner at least once a month. (its been way too long since I ate at a restaurant)
    5. New canopy top. Tired of the leaks but they are still manageable.
    6. More gas/booth money so I could go to far off shows just because the location is gorgeous.
  • A new lighter weight canopy - I have an old heavy, extra tall Craft Hut. With two back surgeries this past year, it's too hard to set up alone. So, the next thing on my wish list would be a set up and tear down crew! I hire people around the country through craigslist ads, but it sure would be nice to have a full time partner/helper.
  • A brand new large tumbler capable of holding a 5 gallon container for sculpture as well as numerous 1.5 gallon containers for my forged necklaces, a laptop for art fairs, a more user friendly webserver, new DSLR camera with professional light box, lights, better tripod, lenses, a blackberry, and partridge in a pear tree. That last is strictly for inspiration... do you want to know my materials wishes too? :)

  • A new mini van - mine has 223,000 miles. My son keeps it in great shape, but it sure would be nice to know I'd get back home after a show.
ProPanels - I now have heavy gridwalls with material covers. They work fine and look great but I'd just love to have that nice ProPanel look.
New dome type tent - My EZ UP is 5 years old, in great shape, doesn't leak, has survived many high winds, but just won't die. All the EZ up stories make me very nervous.
A year's worth of supplies - would be so nice to have a full stock of inks, papers, mats, frames on hand instead of little orders weekly between shows from the show's profits.
New Lens - the one I want is $8,000 and I've been drooling over it for a year.
New Printer - I now have 4 that work great - 2 work nearly 24/7, but I have my eye on the newest & greatest (again around $5,000).
Gee - Good thing I don't have the money now...... cuz if I did it would all be gone again :-)
