I need info on the May 1,2 2010 Elmhurst Art Museum Show

I visited this show a couple of years ago, although I have never done it. It is pretty for the attendees as it is spread out on the lovely grounds -- but that means dolly-over grass or via the winding pathways for load in and out. There are some spaces on the road which would make it easier. Weather is a very real issue at this time of year in Chicago. When I visited, there were vicious storms that weekend. On grass, artists were muddy and extra-tied down. I don't know about sales but wanted to give you this info.

No promoter can guarantee attendance. That 15,000 figure may be from past shows, or even last year. I did a show for years in a certain location and the crowds were there every year, and then one year not more than 1,500 showed up in the three days the show was held. So again, there is no guarantee.

So you research the promoter of the show. You go online and Google them. You find other shows the promoter has done. You do as much homework as you can.

And when you ask strangers how the show was, what is the respondent's definition of "good"? I know some who think $2,000 is "good" and others who think $500 is "good". So always ask for numbers.

  I did check what other shows promoter has promoted but that still does not tell me much.....besides I dont believer promoters, I believe what other artist tell me....yes I want dollar numbers if other artists will give me them.....I know there is no guarantee on attendance....but I think a artist or two who was in this show will give me some ballpark guess at attendance
  
  Tommorros I will call the promoter and ask for artists who have done the show, per centage of returning artists, etc. Then I will call some of the artists...
