Greetings, I'm new to this forum....  I am thinking about buying the flourish mesh panels....   I'm sick of the propanels..... too cumbersome...  anyway, I see lots of questions about hanging heavy paintings on them, but what about light weight things....I want to hang matted watercolors in plastic sleeves, no frames....  how would I do that?

Thanks for any help.

  • For heavy paintings Flourish sells strap hangers that go over the top sta-bars.

For lightweight items just backed and wrapped in shrink film or using clear bags, Mark Rogers of Frame Destination at one time sold a kit consisting of adhesive backed hangers that adhered to clear bags so the artwork could be hung in the booth unframed. I suggest giving him a call:

  • I'm far from an expert on the subject but can tell you of my personal experience. I routinely hang several 20x30 framed giclee canvas prints mounted on board and framed on each wall of my tent along with several standard framed, under glass, photos. You are probably a bit familiar with the concept of the mesh walls, but I'll mention that you will need lower sta-bars to hold down and stretch the mesh tight. Even with that you will experience some movement of the walls in any breeze. I have also hung as many as 8 18x24 framed photographs with glass on a single wall with no problems at all. I've never had the opportunity to use pro-panels so it's hard for me to judge weather the portability and storage of the mesh panels outweigh the classy look of the pro panels. These are just my experiences and I'm sure others will offer up their opinions also. As far as how to hang the prints without frames. I have on occasion, at smaller shows hung bagged prints by using two drapery hooks on the bottom and a couple more upside down on top making a sort of open sleeve effect that you can slide a print into from the side. Hope that makes sense. The tightness of the drapery hooks in the mesh and low weight of the prints keep me confident that they won't slide down and fall.
