I Lost my Name, Didn't Trademark it

I have no one to blame but myself.  I've always wanted to have a business using my name.  It's my username here and on all my social media sites.  I have my domain name and business.  The worst part is the person applied for their trademark in 2011 and they also sell bags so it would be hard to get a variation of my name.

Don't make the same mistake I did.

  • I just saw a story on the mnbc show Your Business talking about trademarks. It states if you are not selling outside your own state it is not necessary. Trademark is a federal permit per say when you sell in multiple states. If you google I believe they may keep current episodes on their website (it is sponsored by American Express). Between domain names, copyrights, etc. oh boy it is all challenging.
    • I saw the story on MSNBC.  That's what prompted me to do a search at the USPTO website.  I've been bummed out since Sunday.  This will affect me because I would like to travel and do art shows.  It would also be a problem if I sell on my website.

  • Interesting. Thanks for posting.
