Hey all.  I know I am not new, but I have to share something with you all.  Whether you know me or not, I hail from Maryland and currently we are under the worst snow storm ever on record for MD - broke all records and even broke the record for biggest snow storm for Minnesota.   As I type this it won't be over for another few hours.  Why am I posting this, especially here.  I am not sure what the News is saying about this, but if you have plans coming through Maryland or maybe attending the Philly Buyers Market - which is going on this coming weekend really think twice.  Roads are not passable and that is from what road crews are reporting - those very few who can make it into work and plow.  Please say a little prayer for us - not just me but other artists and heaven for bid those needing medical attention during this mess.  And the funny thing is - it is my dad's birthday today!  One he'll never forget!

  • Michelle,

Believe it or not, many up here are jealous of you! We're supposed to be getting the storm you're getting, but a stationary high pressure system is keeping the storms south of us, and on top of you.

Right now I have about 4 inches of snow on the ground. Usually there's at least a foot here until Easter.

What you're experiencing would be considered a "pretty good" storm up here. We would possibly close the school, but the last time we closed it, it was a 31 inch snowfall. And the kids still went to the schoolground that day to sled down the hill!

But seriously, We are indeed thinking of all the people who aren't used to this type of weather. Just slow down on the roads, and be safe. And if you need a snow shovel, buy one with a curved handle! They will save your back! I speak from experience. They are worth the money!

  • This is a crazy year for snow! We've been getting buried all winter here in Minnesota, it just doesn't seem to end - and more in the forecast for this weekend. I just got back from St. Louis where the temps were above freezing and no snow on the ground at all - and then to come back to this is pretty depressing. Bundle up and stay warm, spring is just around the corner - I hope!
