How is the Long Grove IL Art Fest?

I did it once, maybe 15 years ago. I had an orphaned booth and did badly. A few artists were stuck in a small field across a street from the  rest of the show. That turned me off and I never applied again. But I’d gone to see it the year before, just scouting, and it seemed pretty good. Of course them I didn’t know about the orphan area. I'm trying to drive less this year so am revisiting this idea.

    I did this show from 2001 to 2007. It hit its peak in 2005. In 2006 it moved to the parking lot and sales and traffic went way down. We gave it another try in 2007 and it was rained out. I haven't been back, but a friend did it last year and said she wouldn't do it again.

    From a patron's perspective, it isn't the best show in the area. I saw more interesting things in one of the stores than at the show.

    The layout is better but if they are moving, it just better not be to the parking lot that I use!!

    (still the best candy apples around)

    I did Long Grove last year and didn't make booth fee even though I did fairly well at Buffalo Grove just down the road. Don't know if it was because it was held in a parking lot that you couldn't see from the road, or there are too many shows in that area, or the patrons hated my work or if it was something else. Saturday was slow and it rained Sunday so I had to pack up in the rain. An artist near me was so upset about selling nothing on Saturday that she cried. She said she used to count on making $2,000 minimum at that show.
    I thought it would be a great show as their chocolate festival always draws huge crowds.
    The show is supposed to move to a more visible parking lot this summer, I believe.
