Ifest was my first booth show. Needless to say I have been working towards this goal since last November. I made a big sale the 3rd day and had a local paper do a story about me, and won "Best Booth" the second weekend, all very exciting. But ticket sales in general were way down, and the crowds were not buying, I heard a lot of grumbling from vendors. Are sales down everywhere, and is this a tough time to be breaking into the business?

  • Hi Pen, welcome to AFI. Glad to have you here.

How great for you that you got that additional promotion in the paper and the other good things! What a nice start for you.

Actually, the scuttlebutt in the business is that Texas is the place to be. Texans have jobs -- and artists are on the road heading there just about every weekend from mid-March until June. To the best of my knowledge you are in the heart of it.

Outside of that, yes, this is a very challenging time to be breaking in. Artists have felt the crumbling of the economy in a serious way.

    • Thanks Connie. I did apply to Bayou Art Fest, we will see about getting into such a sought after Fest!
