  • Long Island is a big place.  Where is the show located?  We always like the Hampton Inn, in Commack (Suffolk County).  Haven't stayed at that one, but in general, a good chain at a reasonable price.  Hard to find anything cheap on Long Island worth staying in!  There is also The Country Inn on Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Sta.  That one is supposed to be reasonable also.
    • Hi Marsha ! Thanks for your suggestions. The show is at the Eisenhower Park and I already founded  one for $80 a night is  the Days Inn Hicksville. Im still looking for the Berkshires Arts Festival, if you have any experience around there.

      Thanks for your help,

      • Hi Lu - I asked my husband to check out the Days Inn.  He's asleep so I sent an email and will check with him tonight. Are you travelling alone?  The "low" price and the lack of interior corridors has me wondering.  If you really get stuck - I live about an hour east and have an exta bedroom. :)

        • Sorry Jeanne! Im just getting back to you. Thanks for the offer that's really sweet of you. I always  travel with my husband so we should be ok. We already prepaid for the Inn and is only one night, but again thanks for the offer.

We live in Philly, is a one bedroom place but we have a great new sofa bed that you are more than welcome to use any time.

          :) Lu

          • Let me know when the LI show is and I'll try to check it out.  We have friends in Lansdale PA that we usually stay with but I certainly will keep you in mind when we're in the area.

      • If you are doing Eisenhower Park with Alan, you should know that he doesn't assign spaces ahead of time.  Often people are allowed to come the night before and set up, which clearly you are not going to be doing.  So, make sure to get there first thing on Sat. so that you can grab a good space.  Sometimes he only sets up along the walkway and other times he will use inner space also, but you'd be best along the walkway, the closer to the beginning as possible (in my opinion).  The shows draw a large diverse crowd.

I'm familiar with many of the shows on Long Island (what do you make?).  What area do you know for shows?  Glad to share info with you.

        • I do paintings, Mixed media 2d. this is my website www.velben.com.

The Eisenhower show is with Bill Kinney. First time out of  the state for outdoor shows so any info is much appreciated.

          • The Eisenhower shows are usually with Nassau County Craft Shows. I see this show is run by Paragon, so should be an upper level show.  Good luck there. The Preferred Promotions shows are also supposed to be good but I've never done one yet.

Watch out for Terry McMullen, the promoter.  You do not want to do her shows as she is a terrible promoter!  Might be interested in Harborfest in Port Washington, which is one day and all handmade - good volume of people. When we do out of state added cost of a motel is always a problem.

            • I am assuming this is the Paragon Art festival. Bill is the promoter. I got accepted to most of his show and will be doing some of them, I am also following this trend so any advice as to accommodation is welcome.

              Thank you.

              • I'll definitely look forward to see your awesome bamboo pieces, I'll be the girl with the really shiny abstract paintings. :) Lu
