I'm planning on being in Chicago next weekend to attend the Old Town Art Fair. It's been a long time since I've been there and am overwhelmed with the choices. Does anyone have any tips? Where are you staying? What do you suggest? Thanks.

I, also need a place to stay. I was going to stay with friends. They decided to leave town that weekend. I'm not going to spend $200 a night for a room.
I just saw that this thread was from last year. So, I'm giving a shout out to anyone doing the show if I could stay with them or share a room. I may only stay one night, Saturday night.
Hey, Barry, I was going to do a post about this, but last year Allan Teger and I stayed at a hostel within a mile of Old Town, very reasonable rates, and maybe he's staying there again this year and you can share ... do a little googling for it and I know you can find it. It's very nice, breakfast included, clean, lots of interesting people ... it will not be $200 a night -- more like maybe $80, I think.
We have 2 extra bedrooms.
I've stayed at that Day's Inn years ago when we did the show, Gayle. Thanks for the reminder.
Has anyone ever used the site hostels.com? I found a bunch of places not very far from Old Town that look feasible and affordable!
There's a Day's Inn on Diversey St. in the DePaul neighborhood that is close by. If you have a car and don't mind going a little further west from the lake, you can probably find a better deal. Try "Trivago.com" or Priceline and use the map feature to see what's closest. I would say there are mostly good areas within a 2 mile radius. Sometimes you can find a great deal downtown at a hotel like the "Allerton", but parking will kill you, so I'd stay out of the downtown area.
