Hi Everyone....I'm new to the board. I am considering doing shows in the next year. I don't have a lot of show experience. In 1998 I created the Naples Invitational Art Fest and directed it for 3 years and I participated in the show as well. I walked away for personal reasons. I work with oils, watercolors, mixed media and collage....and am currently in love with cold wax as an addition the oils.

Welcome!
Hi Patsy and welcome aboard :)
Thank you Annette!
Hi Patsy. I've also put together art shows and walked away for personal reasons. We'll have to share experiences some day.
Welcome to AFI -- I have heard nice things about that show in Naples. It is mostly good when an artist gets a show started. Usually the most important things are heeded, such as, the art is the star of the event. Right?
Ginny Herzog, also a member here, has been experimenting with cold wax recently also with some very nice effects. I hope you'll enjoy being here and participate. No question too small (what deodorant to wear) to why do the judges hate me?
What is your next show?
Hi Connie....If I had been smart, I would have had the foresight to set up bylaws for the show to make sure the basic ground rules for the show did not get changed. Oh well. I don't know if I would ever take that task on again.
I have been making my living mostly working with interior designers doing commission work. I want to take control of my work and stay in the studio (or field) and build and inventory for sale. Once I've accomplished that, I am considering doing the shows in a small way. I can't ever see myself hitting the road like the artists do....I applaud those that do so many shows a year. It's not for sissies. At present I'm more or less putting my ear to the ground, reading the wind and making notes.
