Hi folks, I'm an artist in L.A. I paint pointillist landscape paintings with big dots of paint.
I've been doing art festivals on and off since 2004. I started as a total newbie in Massachusetts. I researched the New England shows and did a few small shows there with some good success, but then life happened and I had to pull up roots and relocate to the West Coast. I had to start all over as a newbie again (researching shows, etc.), and then the Great Recession hit. It's been a tough few years. The shows out here are a lot harder to sell at than back east. People don't seem as interested in art out here. But I'm determined to make it work.
I do a small number of shows a year. I only sell originals and I'm not super prolific, so a few shows is all I can manage. Still looking for just the right shows. (Aren't we all?)
This site is a great resource. I look forward to contributing to the conversation.

Thank you for the warm welcome Annette and Connie!
No more festivals this year for me. Gonna try for some better shows next year.
Hello Barbara, so glad to have you join us. Recent years certainly have been tough for everyone, not to exclude those in the art world, where we all feel especially challenged. Seems like people are spending each dollar like it is their last one. Then on top of it you get to adapt to another world entirely. It is a different marketplace for sure. As you go from one part of the country you really get to see this, don't you? There seem to be a lot of places in the East to take your work, you have many choices. On the West Coast where the weather is invariably beautiful people don't get quite as excited about the outdoor events because so much of living takes place outdoors. Best wishes with your search for your own marketplace. Do you have any shows upcoming?
Hi Barbara and welcome to AFI :)
