Hi I'm new to the art fair insiders but a long time show exhibitor, notice I didn't say the dreaded "V" word ( vendor ). Don't you just hate that word in applications and on show websites makes me feel like I'll be next to alien head drink cups. I'm looking forward to reading the discussions and if I come across a good or bad show will post it here. I mostly stick to the SE region. See you at the forum.

Welcome to the site. There are a lot of wonderful people here who are willing to share their experiences and expertise.
Regarding the word *vendor*:
While the word *vendor* may bear negative connotations for you, it's just a word, the definition of which is "one who vends, or sells; seller." As an artist, I am not bothered by the use of the word vendor to describe my participation in a show. As a show director, I generally refer to our artist participants as participating artists and the food sellers as vendors.
By creating a distinction that vendor is a negative term, artists make an assumption that show directors don't respect them. Not true--I always endeavor to treat the artists in my shows with respect, but calling them vendors has nothing to do with anything. Just my two cents...
