I'm doing my first outdoor show. I set up the tent yesterday and came in this morning to hang my prints and the whole ceiling of the tent is covered with condensation! What can I do to fix this?

The tent I'm using is borrowed and has some tiny wholes in the roof. We're not expecting rain so I figured it wouldn't be a problem.

I can pick up my new tent from UPS in a half hour, but I have no one to help me tear down and set up a new tent before the fair starts in 4.5 hours

  • I put a rubber back outdoor carpet in my booth. You cant prevent moisture from getting in the ground ., A new tent cant help you one bit.
  • It usually happens in the morning when the sun hits your roof and the change in temperature causes it to rain in the booth. Couple of things you can try. Leave a small gap at the bottom of your walls so the dampness can escape. Put a tarp on the ground to prevent damp air from rising and if those things don't work, put plastic over your art overnight. I've seen all three things work for some artists.

    • Worked like a charm.

The only problem I ended up having was that I hung up some unframed matted prints and the moisture in the air overnight warped the mat board a little. Not that big of a deal, the photos themselves were find.

    • Thanks Larry.

My new tent came this morning, so I tore down and setup in the new tent with no holes in the roof. I will definitely try your suggestions. The other tent was buttoned up tight which apparently had the opposite effect from what I expected.
