Thanks so much Diane - I was afraid of that regarding the Highlands. I'll bow out. I know the Pound Ridge area, and will probably do that one. (It is very inexpensive, so there is very little to lose!) I will take a range of jewelry to that one - and some of the big gold pieces to see what happens. Best, Mindy
I sell jewelry - bead-weaving and forged and fabricated sterling. I did The Highlands show twice - last year and the year before. The first year I did it, it was at the Mansion. I did passably but I felt that the attendance was good, that people were buying, the artist were generally of high quality. There were a few problems but I felt that based on the overall experience that maybe the show had potential for me and I decided to try for a second year. Last year they moved the show to The Germantown Friends school and I thought that was going to be a plus. I did not do well. The volunteers for the most part were very nice. Attendance was practically non existent. The few sales that I had were good ones - but there were just not enough people attending. Some of the volunteers intimated that little was spent on advertising. I think also that some attendees in the past came to see The Mansion and the field house of the school was not as interesting. Many artists from my first year did not return the second year and I felt that they were not replaced with as high quality artists. I don't know if there was any buy/sell but there were a few I wondered about. There were several local (I think maybe committee members) people that had booths. I decided not to return this year. I have not done The Pound Ridge show but considered applying. I will be interested in any responses for that one.
