Hello everyone,
my name is Sean and I have been a member for about a month, but have kept pretty quiet so far. Now its time to dive in and see all the fantastic things this site seems to offer. As I make my way through all the previous blogs and forum post to pull as much knowledge from you all as possible ill just let you know a little about me.. I currently work for a group of Pet Supplies Plus stores in Michigan and at each store we have a Large scale event to bring our neighbors closer to us and to give back to our community. At our Bloomfield location, Patrick the manager has always wanted their big event to be art based and more importantly animal art based! So today is the first day of my journey in learning how I can help him achieve this. I am as green as it gets when it comes to art and art fairs, so be gentle, but I have an open mind and a willingness to succeed!
So as I dive in I would love to get to meet some of you!!!
Sean

I'm in Fenton, MI and as a miniaturist I work in a small scale, and usually sell at miniature shows. But when I do show at art fairs and fund-raisers, I've had a lot of luck with needle felted dogs (usually 4" tall or smaller) and dog bath time scenes (they fit on a half-sized ceramic tile). Something to think about - a different medium. :)
There's also an artist in Northville who makes custom ceramic tiles of your dog's paws. Her name escapes me but she exhibited at The Seeing Eye gallery. Both my mom and I took our dogs to make the tiles - it was really fun and the tiles are beautifully done.
Good luck - sounds like a fun event.

Hi Sean,
I live in Oakland Co., MI and would love to come and see your exhibit when it's done...so, yes, are you an artist or the art organizer/producer? I think you could focus on photographs, paintings or even ceramics...I bought a ceramic chihuahua at the Ann Arbor Art Fair a couple of years ago that looked just like my dog. Whatever you decide to do, I hope you'll keep us in the loop and let your fellow Michiganders know when they can come for a visit. Thanks and welcome!
So, Sean, you're putting on events at your store? That is very cool. I was in Ann Arbor yesterday and there was a "pet" place, not a franchise like yours, on 4th Street with pet portraits in the window and other very chic doggie things inside. Don't remember the name, but definitely a niche pet place. Are you an artist, or are you just looking for ideas on how to make this a more attractive store and get folks involved with the store? sort of a "pet art show organizer"?
