Being a native to Florida, I can't help but feel that I may be able to offer some good advice about some of our shows, promoters etc... I too, on the other hand have wondered about the travel expenses surpassing the income while traveling out of state. After many friends sharing their advice with me, it seems to be, without a doubt a little more profitable to go up North (for me) as it is for one to travel South. After being in this type of "outdoor, Art Festival" biz for 11 years, I feel like every year/show comes with a new beginning. There seems to be no path to follow or predictions to give. I have learned to take each show as it comes with owning my thoughts as this: My alternatives would be not a better option, only different. And I'm guessing not any better, for I still remain somewhat in control over my existence in the work force. I look forward to welcoming new friends as this is my first welcome post~I do what I love because I love what I do!

Hey, it's nice to see that I actually know someone on this site! You recogonized me even though I am using my maiden name. It isn't to hard to figure when my URL website is Floridafusion. So, I suppose I can go ahead a post a picture too! If those detectives are out there. they will find us. Ya know~ someday ya may wanna try (over the summer months) bringing some of your smaller pieces to the Pier and seeing how ya do! Ya might be surprised. Oh yeah, then your RV might get rusty~ (LOL) NOT! Well, stay hydrated, drink lots of alcohol, then more H20 & hurry home to relax~ Or, pay bills, which ever comes first! See ya guys soon~ Please send Lynn my love too! Christine
Hi Christine and welcome to AFI :)
Thank you Annette~ I look forward to swapping ideas & values.
Great to have you here, Christine. You're right, being flexible in this business is a prerequisite for staying sane let alone profitable. Judging each event on its own merit and evaluating where to go next is both scary and exciting. After 11 years are you still up for it? Do you do different shows each year?
