Like many here I have spent quite a while lurking Art Fair Insider sites and being on the mailing lists for the different ones. This year I saw the Pledge opportunity and decided to pay up for the wonderful information Connie has made available and the informative topics that have been contributed by so many of you since I joined the mailing list. All the while thinking.. 'I was just not ready or good enough for art shows.'
I just managed to get up enough courage display my art recently and in showing the little bit of work I have done recently, I was asked to consider doing a series of Native American Cultural Art of significant activities and locations for the Choctaw Indian culture. I am finding it a journey very enjoyable!
I look forward to being a beneficial asset to the group and look forward to many good years with all of you.
A little bit about me...
I was born in 1958, married in 1977 and currently lives in the south central United States in S.E Oklahoma.
I have traveled a great deal across the United States, having spent many years as both labor and management, operated a computer consulting service specializing in software and hardware support in Rehab Technology, helping people learn to use computers to overcome disability caused physical limitations to return to work and enjoying hobbies. Having served on the Ohio State Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation, Lorain County Board of Consumers as board member and Chair, receiving multiple awards for my work in helping others awarded by the State of Ohio, Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation as well as others.
After relocating back to S.E.Oklahoma, in the early 2004 I served as Dark Sky Site manager for the Texas Astronomical Society’s (TAS) Observatory and Dark Sky Site in S.E. Oklahoma, sitting as a board member during the tenure as such.
In 2009 I became a published short story author in the 2009 Issue of Sci-Fi Almanac Anthology of Short Stories.
My hobbies include minor geology (collecting crystal forms of mineral,) and amateur astronomy.
I enjoy my art most when I was able to make a heartfelt connection with the canvas, as well the subject on the canvas. The artwork flows more relaxed, less “uptight.” I somehow join in a symbiotic relationship with my artwork brining much joy into my work that comes out in the paintings.
Although Oil Paints are my favorite medium, I use many mediums including; Acrylics, Charcoal, Colored Pencils, Digital Art, Graphite Pencils, Oil Paints, Oil Pastels, and Watercolor.

Hi Tim and welcome aboard :) Loved finding out about your background!
Wow! Some resume, Tim. Welcome to AFI and thanks for posting. I look forward to your participation here. You might enjoy a discussion a while back started by Lois Anderson, "Who We Were", that brings out the background of many in this business. That one and a similar one by Carrie Jacobson about "how old are you?" shares a lot of information that is surprising to me. I thought that most everyone was like the two of us -- into a second or third career here, and yet -- we've got a bunch of members way younger. Check it out also.
That all being said, thanks for joining and pledging. You are one of the winners in the Pledge Drive. Congrats. What is your choice of prize?
