I am a beginner in the art shows - only done two so far and they were both iffy. I was accepted to the downtown Venice Florida Art Classic in March 2010 and would like to know if anyone can recommend it before I shell out the entry fee. Thanks.

I've done the show twice. For me (a nature photographer), Venice is a very good market and it compares well to shows in Sarasota. So much depends on your medium...in general functional 3D art is outstripping 2D these days.
If you haven't done Howard's shows, know that they're efficiently run and well promoted. It's a no-frills drill, with a 5 AM setup, generally not much space between booths, and no artist amenities. . . so you've got to be well organized, stocked with food and water, and lots of rest helps!
Howard does two shows a year in Venice. Because of the seasonal residents, this is the bigger of the two. Good luck to you!
