  • Hi Larry,

I've enjoyed reading your posts and found the information you share to be very helpful in preparing my jury images for the upcoming season of shows.  I show mainly in northern Michigan and am looking at applications for the spring/summer shows.  Most of the shows I do here still require either photos or digital pics mailed in directly on a cd.  I'm wondering about the artist statement portion of the applications.  Your posts have inspired me to "clean up" my photos, and I think I could "clean up" my artist statement as well.  The applications I'm looking at ask for a description of my work, but not an actual artist statement.  Would that be something I'd want to write on a separtate sheet and include with my app?  What kind of information would I include in that?  How long should it be; a paragraph? Two?  Would I want it to be formal and factual or more casual?  Will the jury typically read the artist statement, and the description of the work as they view the pictues?  Thank you very much for your time.  Amy
