Hello everyone I'm Katika (Tika or Kat for short). I am a stay at home mom of three and a Army wife (retired). I started designing hair bows, woven head bands and other accessories. I have been creating for almost a year. My hubby recently retired from the Army and we moved to Greenville about 2 months ago. I have been teaching myself to sew as well (its a work in progress). I am excited about doing craft fairs and a little afraid. But I am researching and doing some recon (as my husband calls it).
I am so glad I found this website A LOT of information and experience here and for a newbie like myself it is very very much appreciated and helpful.

Hi Kat:
Welcome to AFI. Not sure when you were wanting to get started but noticed that there are a couple of festivals that are pretty close to you and get good numbers. Both are 1st weekend in May and have passed the deadline but it is always worth asking if they have space. One is the SC Strawberry Festival and the Spartanburg Spring Fling. I would think you would do best at the street fair or family friendly festivals which both of these appear to be. Might be worth investing in CraftMaster or Festival Net for the first year while you are learning your local market. Good luck!!!
Thank you Pauline!!
Welcome Kat. We are glad that you found us. This is a great place for newbies. There is so much information here. I hope to see you around our site.
Hi Kat!
Welcome to the site. I'm glad you found us....good "recon." There is SO much information here that I'm sure you'll find anything you have questions for. If you don't, just ask. There are over 8,000 members on this site, so someone has to have an answer for anything that's thrown out there!
I was a stay at home Mom of three also. I think it's very cool that you've found something to create and do on your own while doing the domestic stuff. Great luck to you!
Thank you Farah!!!
Welcome Kat! You are absolutely correct about all the info here. Much to absorb!
Thank you Pat!!
Kat,
We need to chase away that "afraid" feeling and replace it with 'exicitment' visit a show or two, that usually gets the blood pumping.
Thank you Jacque!!!
Hi Kat and welcome to AFI :) You're right, there's so much info here AND its totally addictive ... the more you look, the more you find! Best way to prepare for a craft show, after you've read lots and think you've got a bit of a set up, is to go for it and try one out. Experience is the best teacher!
