Hi...I'm Susanne and I'd like to introduce myself and my little business, The Vintage Hippy. I offer Reborn Jewelry and Peace'd Together Purses handcrafted from recycled and vintage materials. My first art fair was February 2012 so I still feel like a newbie and have lots to learn. I'v started applying for this years fairs...applications..uploads..downloads..CD's? (still haven't figured that one out)..and The Fees, some are kinda scary for the bigger shows. I mean... I want to do nice shows with lots of eager folks happy to take my pretties home, but paying some of these fees make me doubt myself.....AnyOne else ever feel this way?? ...Peace.

Hi Susanne and welcome to AFI :)
Thanks for your positive words...I will stop by one of the discussions soon, I'd love to meet some new friends to share ideas with...Peace.
WoW..I'm no where near that many applications and I'm feeling overwelmed...You must have nerves of steel. Thanks for your encouragement...Peace.
Welcome, Susanne. We're glad you've joined us here. Your "little business" should do well with the younger demographic and we need to bring younger people to the art fairs for sure! Be patient with the CD's and the other downloads, I'd guess with the next 2 years there won't be any events still doing that, but some shows are loath to change. Ever meet anyone like that?
The fees are scary. Actually we were talking about fees in another discussion here today. January is the really big month for art fair applications and hopefully you'll be able to figure out where you want to apply. It is not a matter of life or death. At even the shows that don't turn out well for you you will learn something, make a friend, see a new city, etc., and learn from the experience. However, I'd suggest only one of those a year. Right? Read Richard Scherer's discussions on how he researrches the shows and pick up a lot of helpful information.
Then join us in the discussions. We are always looking for friendly people to chat with. Even if you don't have an answer to someone's questions, coming in with a friendly word or two works wonders and keeps this community humming. Please go answer someone's discussion as soon as you get a chance.
Welcome, Susanne!
Thanks for your positive input Connie. I will stop by one of the discussion groups soon...and I will check out Richard Scherer's research info...sounds like he's got the answers I'm looking for...Peace.
