I'm new here... I'm an artist currently living in the Los Angeles area.
I work mainly in pen and ink these days (although I'm experimenting with washes). I also tutor art, teach classes, and make jewelry.
I used to live in Las Vegas, so I'm trying to learn to navigate the (more complicated) L.A. art scene. I've had one show here so far....
Hoping to connect to some like-minded artists here !

Glad to have yo join us, Lin.
I hear lots of complaints about the shows in the LA area in general ... and as you may know the business is quite diverse, different parts of the country see different variations of earning a living. Art fairs are part of the cultural landscape here in the Midwest (we don't have the ocean and all the distractions and things to do like you do in the LA). Still, we have some good folks on this forum who live in your area who might be helpful to you.
My kids live in the LA area so I get there several times a year and we always have to look for art fairs when I come. My site, ArtFairCalendar.com, lists some of the events that may be of interest to you.
What show did you do recently?
Lin Rhys,
there is also a sub-group here you can join (see the group choices on the navigation bar at top of page under the banner): Southwest and Pacific Coast Artists. You may find someone nearer your area in that group if you post.
WELCOME LIN!!
Pen & Ink~do you use watercolor or pastels ever with your pen & ink? I used to play around with that & it is a pretty awesome look! You will find this site alot of fun & a wealth of information. I used to love to go to Laguna Beach, CA. quite a bit & really enjoyed watching the Artists in their colony by the beach painting silks, ect. Have you done their Sawdust Festival? Good luck to you & WELCOME & ENJOY!!!
Hi Lin,
Welcome and thanks for introducing yourself here! I'm pretty sure there must be some other L.A. artists here and I hope they come forward to say "hello" and offer some advice. I've recently relocated also, but on a much smaller scale...I went from a more or less rural area to a really lively artistic environment and it's been really exciting, if not a little overwhelming. In any event, I wish you much success in your new city and thanks again for reaching out.
