  • hi autumn -thanks so much for that info, maybe i saw that gatliburg july date on a website with incorrect dates......

i do alot of 2d wall sculpture and home furnishings, and xmass is always a difficult selling time for me...maybe i will consider the chantilly show, since my retail venues aren't doing as well as they have in the past ,ive had to change my gameplan to try and figure out where can i travel and reach my client base.

the big indoor fine art shows are so expensive, but, i decided to apply to "the one of a kind show" in chicago the booth fee is 2200. i just received a notice that the show in chicago has now moved to Los Angles. I cant drive 30 hours to LA, i guess i lost my jury fee on that one. selling art is a real challenge these days...

    Denice,

Not all Gilmore shows are equal. Location and time-of-year are important factors... particularly location. Maybe I'm missing something but I'm not seeing a Gatlinburg show in July on the Gilmore web site... is his new? I think Richmond and Chantilly are still two of his top shows.

I did two of his Christmas shows a few years ago: Richmond and Greensboro. This was the tale of two cities. I did fairly well in Richmond but I didn't even make expenses in Greensboro. He does a good job marketing, folks do come, but not always the right folks. You'll need low price points for his shows. In all fairness, 2D at Christmas is a hard sell. We did one show and realized in the first ten minutes that we were in trouble. Nice people and nicely done but if you consider yourself "fine art or fine craft" that didn't seem to be the buyers we saw. A lot of craft and food vendors.
