  • I was in the festival in October. I feel the booth fees are a little high, I know that Lynette advertised, I saw proof of that, but I just don't know if she can draw that Austin crowd. I did okay, expenses plus, but I did not have a hotel room to pay for. The thing that I figured out, is that the people that live in Austin don't seem to want to travel all the way to Georgetown (a whopping 20-30 minutes), to attend an art festival. I guess they have so much to do there, that it is not worth their time. An artist who lives there told me that he feels that Austin is more music than visual arts. And Georgetown is a retirement town, these retirees did not seem to be doing a lot of spending. It is a neat city in my opinion, and the setting is in a nice area.  Surprisingly, not a lot of room between booths, I was thankful the person behind me did not show so I could store some things behind. The other sticking point, is that the October show always coincides with football.  I know someone has said it on this site before, but speaking from personal experience, Texans love their football!  If UT has a game, expect it to affect the traffic.

The thing that bothered me, is that I was by myself, and thankfully I had great neighbors for potty breaks because once I checked in, I never heard from anyone representing the show again.  They did have water, and I think an artist get together on Sat. night, but I had plans that night and could not attend.  It was hot too, in the nineties, and that is not uncommon in Oct. in Texas.  Quite honestly, I don't know if I will do it again or not, I just don't know about the crowds...

    • Thanx for the great info.  As it turns out I am not able to do this show due to a conflict, but the fact that you responded is great!  Show fees seem to be rising along with everything else. May the rest of the year be profitable for you!    Gregory
