I just joined friendfeed for Art Festival Artists. Wanted to let everyone know that my friend and fellow art festival artist @mattsuess just started a public group called "Art Festival Artists" on FriendFeed and wanted to invite everyone to sign up and participate in the group. It is similar to twitter in that you can post tidbits about show and see people's miniblogs. It is open to all artists doing juried art festivals as well as promoters. Post questions about the art festival circuit, questions on applying to shows, setting up, etc. Hopefully it becomes a great source of information for seasoned veterans to those considering art festivals.
You have to sign up for a free friendfeed account. Friendfeed is kind of like an enhanced twitter. You can add the friendfeed application to your facebook profile.

You need to be a member of Art Fair Insiders to add comments!
Thanks for the info Christine.... I guess I just have to get with the times. There is a commercial running on television that says something like - 82% don't know what twitter is...... that's me allrighty! I'll have to check it out during our long cold winter (my real productive time). Thanks again

Friendfeed is not an actual forum...it is more like twitter in that when you just want a to send a mini blog about your day or show or travels, it is fun for that. It is also nice for up to the minute quick feeds about the happenings at shows esp. when a storm is taking place. I actually have mine set up with my twitter acct. where I can send a tweet from my cellphone which then updates the quick feed on friendfeed. I don't even have to go online...unless I want to see what others are saying.
I will stay here, yahoogroups for photogs and artfairsourcebook because they are forums where questions can be asked and feedback provided.

I'm not saying whether it's good or bad, but it's another distraction and a way for artists to neglect their own web sites, which can be their best sales tool outside of the art shows. Besides my own forum of over 6500 photographers and other artists, there is this forum and the Art Fair Sourcebook forum. Those appear to be the most active. Then there's probably a dozen or so other art and craft show related forums that don't get that much traffic.
I'll give you a prime example. The ACC was so proud that they set up a FaceBook site but if you went to their web site on the day before the Baltimore show started, you could still buy tickets for last years show.
Thanks Christine..... however, I like to keep things simple - especially during the busy midwest art fair season - between producing enough art for my shop, internet and art shows, there is little time to check out yet another site dedicated to artist forums. I check into artfairinsiders pretty much daily, then get busy working on my bread & butter. I think Connie's format gives us access to it all. Hope you stay with us here Christine - perhaps you can share with us info that has not yet been discussed here.
