Just found out I have accepted to the Fort Worth Main Street Arts Fest.  I need to submit booth location requests, but I have no particular basis to choose one over another.  Any suggestions from those who have done this show in the past?

Dean

  • After going on about how much I like the square (400's) I want to add that the standard wisdom is that there is more traffic on Main street. My point is that nowhere is there a traffic problem, but my friend who was in the 500's insists the sales are better on Main.

Keep in mind you are under a common tent on main, and if your tent is taller than the standard size, it may not fit. And I think it was the 300 block that has the bird issue.
  • I have done this show for 2 years and will be back this year. I have read blogs from the past saying the "Artist Square" is where you don't want to be. I beg to differ... There is absolutely no storage behind your tent on Main street. It is out of the sun, so if it is chilly, and last year it was, you better bring a coat. And at the northern part of Main, there is a bird poop problem. I prefer the artist square, load in and load out is easy, they say 400,000 people come through, I believe that. Where ever you are, it is crowded. I have artists say the square gets the wind. In the past 2 years, Main street got the wind.
FYI, the boxed lunches are awesome! It is worth the up front expense to order these. Food on the street is a pain in the ass. One word, coupons _
    • Thanks for the boxed lunch tip, that's really good to know. I bypassed it on Zapp but may reconsider.
I think I saw your work at CCAF (?)this year-it's great.
      thanks
  • I haven't done the show since the mid 1990's but anywhere on Main Street is good. The spaces in Sundance Square can be good also but that's where the stage is for the music.

    • I got accepted as well - first year doing it! I actually called someone who did the fair last year and he said Main Street anywhere was good. I have friends who live there and they said Main street for sure, and not any of the sides.
      • thanks, Stephanie! I'll just choose something on Main st. It will be my first time too.See you there....
