hi, I'm new to the Columbia, SC area and would appreciate anyone's input into which are the good fairs in the South, especially Florida thanks, Nicholas
You need to be a member of Art Fair Insiders to add comments!
You need to understand who your buyers are and who the buyers are of the artist recommending a particular show. Deerfield Beach is just one of hundreds of mediocre shows in Florida: http://www.deerfieldbeachfestivals.com
I talked to an artist at a Venise Beach fair and he said the Deerfield Festival was excellent. He does really well there every year.

My experience from last year tells me that the west coast of Florida (Naples, Tampa) is healthier economy wise than the southeast coast. I tried for several years to get into ArtiGras and I finally did and I did not do well. However, the weather was a big factor this year. There were several shows with very cold artists. Being central Florida based I do a lot of shows in the fall that are local for me. I don't think any of them are worth traveling for except possibly Deland.

Hi Alison, thanks for responding. I'll check out the Art Fair Source Book. From my experience from doing shows before some were really good and some just weren't worth doing. So I guess if it's a good show I would probably go to southern Fl.

Florida has numerous art festivals. At the present time I have 17 open apps out there so they are plentiful and varied. If you are new to doing shows in Florida I would suggest subscribing to Art Fair Source Book if you don't already. It is also a very big state so how far are you willing to travel?
Hi Larry, thanks for responding. I'm a painter and did shows for three years about 9 years ago. I've been out of the country so I'm out of touch with doing festivals now. And I'm new to
Columbia SC so I'm looking for a source that would tell me which shows are worth doing. I'll check out Sunshine Artist and Art Fair Source Book.
thanks, Nicholas

Hi Nicholas. Missing from your question is what you do and how many years experience do you have doing shows. Also missing is what other resources do you use or subscribe to, like Sunshine Artist or the Art Fair SourceBook.
