  • A little late for this party.

Natalie Brown Gutnik lives in Wisconsin and made floorcloths for years, finally moving on to jewelry. I built her web site is: http://floorcloth-natasha.com/

Check out what happens when you move your mouse over the picture of her on the home page.

  • Here's what New England Floorcloths are like. This Vermont artist does fantastic reproduction work as well as original pieces.

  • Where do you live? That makes a difference. In all my years of doing shows I've only met one or two people who do this so you really have an advantage getting into shows - alone in your category. Give us some more information. If you are in the East there are wonderful fine craft shows that should work. Like Chris said, this may be more popular in the East, but if you do more contemporary designs your work could go anywhere.

    • I don't know what you mean by floorcloths, can you enclose a picture or two?

      • Floorcloths are canvas floor coverings. Hand painted, sealed with 3 coats of polyeurethane varnish, very durable and easy to clean with damp sponge.

They are BIG on the East Coast. I live in California, and no one gets it here.

Frustrated Artist. Make a lot of floorcloths, barely sell any.

I specialize in custom ones, but have many ready made designs.

        Thanks for your response.

        • Hi Susan,

If your floorcloths are of a "traditional" design then you may have some luck looking at shows on this website: http://www.american-artists.com/index.html  They have a page of show listings - I took a quick look and they did list a few in the CA area although I can't vouch for any of them (way out of my show circuit).

Hope this helps - good luck!

  • I can't help you in California, but here in New England floorcloths are a pretty big deal. Especially in the Colonial homes where floorcloths were used instead of expensive rugs, and they lasted for years.
