I am a nomadic nature photographer working in western states, and would like to start showing my work at fairs this year. My portfolio reflects my travels, so it's a pretty diverse collection. Here's what I am planning:
- I'd like to do shows across several states (California, Oregon, Arizona, Washington).
- I'll have a core set of photos that I'll show at all events (flowers, birds, etc.)
- I expect around 20 of these core photos
- For the different states, I'll add photos specific to the area (coastline in California, saguaros in Arizona, mountains in Washington)
- I expect less than 5 of these specific photos
So, I have a couple questions:
1. Should I customize the works for the area where the show will be held or should I just show the same set of photos at all events regardless of state?
2. If I decide to add photos specific to the area, do I have to take different booth photos for the applications?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I am with Larry on the booth image. But since you're relatively new to this business I see an advantage breaking into markets with few images specific to the region for the individual shows. People who buy landscape/outdoor photography are attracted to Familiar imagery. It will bring people into the booth and give them reason to talk to you.
Thank you, Connie. This is very helpful!
If your style is consistent you can do with one booth picture for all shows. I'm never changed my work depending on location but my photography wasn't location oriented and my images were strong enough.
