I guess this is more of a suggestion than anything else just in case the people who run Entry Thingy happen to look online for people chatting about them.
I like to know when my app has been processed, yes I keep notes, yes I have a lovely spreadsheet I use...but in the heat of show application season when the last day for Belleville is coming up fast I want to go back and confirm it. With Entry Thingy it seems you can't. I know it's a program embedded in the web sites of the local show right? Not an independent application website like Zapp. So when I go to see my application for Belleville there is a button that says "pay here". Yikes, I already paid right? Check Paypal...whew! Gosh, I remember mailing in the signed form but I hope I really did!
With Prairie Arts in Schaumburg you just hit a complete application button and then you are done...it gives you a form to print out with room at the bottom for a signature, but then no explicit directions about whom to mail it to...huh. I realize show directors get to "design" their own Entry Thingy and some do far better than others, but I'm still sitting here wondering where to mail this form.

Chris Ritke is absolutely fabulous. He really cares about the workings of Entry Thingy and is so helpful to the artists and show directors. He is the best and I am grateful that Art on the Square was able to find his system. Special thanks also to Barry Witt who knew exactly what art show directors were looking for to help them produce a top notch show. Two real gentlemen that are greatly appreciated.
Hi Karen - Yes, I left a message with Schaumburg to let them know about this... and you're right - each show sets up their own entry instructions and also the instructions that show after the entry is submitted...
Regarding Belleville: you got a confirmation from Paypal that your payment went through, right? The way most shows handle this is that they change the status of paid entries from 'Submitted' to 'Show to Jury' so they and the artist knows that the entry and payment is ok. And I see that your entry is set to 'Show to Jury' so you're all set.
I still have to think about your concern that the Paypal button still showing even though you're paid... I'm always looking for ways to improve the system - so thanks for that!
And thanks Connie for the heads-up on this... I'm all hooked up to this site through the feed and always check out everything that comes through... crazy that I missed this one!
This is actually very, very impressive.
There are some people out there that "get it". Sometimes it seems like some people either don't know, or don't care, or they just have some kind of agenda.
But then someone steps up and makes an effort - an added effort.
This industry needs more people like you Chris Ritke.
