Easton Art Affair

Hi, just got accepted into this show, my research says it is a good show to do, but I would like to hear from seasoned pros that have done this show in the past, bearing in mind that our medium might be different. Any infomation, advice or general observation on what to expect will be welcome. Hotel, high end or low end, worth a trip from NE, and forth.

Thanks in advance for all responses.

  • I did it last year and it was my favorite venue and also most profitable (I sell textured abstract paintings)!  2011 was my first year doing art festivals so I only did 5 while I was still "testing the art festival waters", but it by far blew away any of my other shows.  The set up is easy, its in a fabulous location with a lot of nearby restaurants that will deliver to your booth, free electricity, there is RV parking available (for free I believe), and a lot of people come to Easton Town Center each weekend whether there is an art show there or not.  Also, there really arent too many bad spots.  Pretty much anyplace you are will get decent traffic.  And I love Barb as a promoter!

I know a lot of people complain that the people coming are there to shop at the mall rather than buy art, but I did not have that experience.  I sold 18 paintings (mostly between $200-300) in the last two days and recieved two commision orders as well.  There were tons of metal on a stick yard art going by, but all in all, they keep the low end crafts out, and those that do make it in are on the end of the rows, while fine art is more central.

Personally I can't wait to do this show again.

    • I'm starting to regret now declining Easton in favor of Evanston Fountain Square. I did FS many years ago and hadn't realized how far down the tubes it had gone. The reviews on Easton at AFSB weren't good for the most part, mostly for people not knowing a show was there. I think I'd rather be at a shopping mall where people are coming to buy instead of party central where the attractions are sausages and lots of beer. I'll know better next year.

      • Hope to see you there next year!

  • I just looked to see if we had a review for this show at www.artshowreviews.com thinking you might be able to find a review there.  We don't (darn it!).  So, after you do the show, if you wouldn't mind, we would love it if you would do a review for us.

It won't be long til you do the New Orleans Jazz Festival.  Good luck.  I hope you have great sales there.

Oh, did you try putting the Easton show into the search bar here at AFI?  That show should have been discussed here sometime in the past.  You may find some info from years past that may help you some.

    • Hi Jacki, I searched it here and in the artfair reviews  but cant seem to find where it has been discussed. I am hoping I get some response from those that have done it before, but If I get to do it I will be leaving my reviews after the show.
